About us
We are a group of people who love Jesus and who love Shirley. We believe the church's mission is to make and mature (grow) apprentices of Jesus. We are committed to making Christ known in Shirley and beyond because we believe that fullness of life is found only in knowing Him.
We are named Emmett Street Community Church, and that's a reflection of the sort of church we want to be. We are a church of people who get stuck in around the hood, whether it's local sports clubs, schools, kindies or community groups - we want to serve Shirley. We believe that God has uniquely situated us in the middle of Shirley in order to serve the people of Shirley (Acts 17:26) and point us all to Jesus. Our community has heaps of awesome qualities and plenty of needs too. But our greatest need is to know Jesus Christ. We love our community and our greatest desire is for everyone in Shirley to hear and respond to the good news of salvation found in Jesus Christ.
We believe that God, as our creator and saviour, deserves all glory and honour, and so our primary purpose as a church is to bring him the glory he deserves.
